Alarm Zone Controller (AZC)
rule

The Alarm Zone Controller (AZC) is an alarm monitoring field device for use with MDI’s Integrated Digital Controllers. The AZC functions as an interface between the alarm input devices and the Network Local Controller (NLC) / Communications Board (COMM).

The AZC features 16 supervised inputs and 4 relay outputs. Application programs (firmware) and zone configurations are downloadable into FLASH MEMORY eliminating the need to physically replace EPROMs for application changes and system upgrades.

During loss of communications to the NLC/COMM, the AZC continues to monitor alarms and store events in a high capacity buffer. When communications is restored, the buffered events are transmitted to the host. Industry standard RS-485 communications protocol is used between the AZC and COMM/NLC.

The MDI system design is scalable, which provides for reduced installation costs. As customer needs change and grow, additions to the system become cost-effective by simply reconfiguring the system or adding only the required controllers.

AZC FEATURES

  • 16 supervised inputs are provided for alarms

  • An additional input provided for tamper

  • 4 Form-C output relays are provided for local annunciation or other purposes

  • Downloadable FLASH memory eliminates need to change EPROMs for application programming and system upgrades

  • SDRAM memory stores 2000 events during any communications disruption and forwards them when communications restored

  • RS-485 communications allows local installation or remote installation up to 4000’ (1300m) from NLC/COMM

  • The AZC accepts a 6.0 - 16.0 Vdc power source
